Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM (ET)
IMPORTANT EVENT CHANGE:
In the spirit of inclusiveness and due to high-levels of interest, we have re-vamped the panel into a roundtable discussion. Please read on for more details.
Let’s warm up from this bitter cold with a heartwarming panel on healthcare and social media. February’s meeting will focus on the collaboration between health care providers, advocates, and educators using new technologies and social media tools. How can these tools help organizations get information out and connect with the public? In what ways can patients benefit from social media technologies to manage their health care experience? These questions and more will be answered, as well as plenty of time for Q&As.
Special thanks IQ Solutions for hosting the event and to JESS3 for sponsorship.
EVENT INFORMATION
Title: Engaging the Health World Through Social Media (Roundtable Discussion)
With fields such as marketing, advertising and public relations making extensive use of the emerging technologies associated with new/social media tools, it was only a matter of time before they were applied to one of the most important landscapes: Health care. The world of health care and social media has come to include health care IT, health communications, education and many other areas. This transformation into the "upgraded" health care world has become known as Health 2.0.
Health 2.0 currently is known as "participatory health care. Enabled by information, software, and community that we collect or create, we the patients can be effective partners in our own health care, and we the people can participate in reshaping the health system itself." As time goes on, more innovations will continue to surface aimed at creating more of an interactive, patient/consumer-centric system.
Format:
The panelists will briefly introduce themselves, and the event will begin with a short, moderated discussion. Then, the floor will be open for attendees to ask questions and also participate in answering the questions, as many attendees come with a variety of experiences and perspectives that will add to a meaningful discussion.
